What did Obama mean when he said this-”We need earmark reform, and when I’m President, I will go line by line?
While campaigning for change, Barack Obama said, “We need earmark reform, and when I’m President, I will go line by line to make sure that we are not spending money unwisely.” But now the President is about to sign a huge 2,697 page spending bill with over 9,000 unnecessary and wasteful earmarks. That’s not the “change” we are looking for. I have called on the President to take a principled stand and veto the bill if it is sent to him, but unfortunately, he appears ready to sign it into law, which is nothing more than politics as usual.
It’s no secret that I’ve spent my political career fighting against out-of-control, wasteful spending in Congress. And in nearly 30 years, I have never witnessed the type of alarming and irresponsible spending as I have seen in Washington over the past few weeks.
I am appalled to see this legislation being rushed through the Congress while containing so many egregious earmarks. It is unconscionable that while we are asking Americans to do more with less in these trying economic times we are about to spend $1.7 million for pig odor research in Iowa, $2 million for the promotion of astronomy in Hawaii, $475,000 for a parking garage in Provo City, Utah, $300,000 to build a Montana World Trade Center, and $150,000 for a rodeo museum in South Dakota.

When he said, I’m going for change and I’m going to stop this spending…. Did he ever think about his cabinet who can’t even properly file a tax return? I mean, come on.
I wish the best to President Obama, but I sure as hell am not holding my breath.
He meant, “I’ll feed you a bunch of lines so that you’ll vote for me, that way I can sign in any legislation I want, whether it has earmarks or not.” Apparently, his teleprompter went out that day and the poor dear had to make things up.
Politics.. for one thing, and He is just trying to do too much too fast , my own thought even before it was being said by “news folk”.
I am a Conservative, but don’t ever want to see My Country fail .. so I do hope He is Correct and I am wrong.. However.. I also do not want to sacrifice my freedoms along the way.
So we need to find some middle ground and stop with the agenda pushing. History is quite clear on these things.. when will we ever learn?

Looks like all of those you mentioned can create jobs. I’d probably cut the pig odor research, but some science departments will be happy.
He decided he didn’t need to spend so much on new helicopters, so he cut that. I’m sure Bullsh never would have cut any of the bogus expenses he wasted your money on. I think Obama will listen to people who have a good reason to complain about something. There is to be a website to show where the money is being spent (unlike the hidden Bush budget.) So if you see something you don’t like, address it specifically.
He meant I really have no idea about what’s behind the desk of the former president, I’ll inherit a deficit but of what magnitude.

Yep line by line and then they weren’t even allowed to read the so called stimulus bill. Libs still believe everything he says. Wait until the Bush tax cuts expire. See we will have to pay more taxes but they are just returning to where they were before. That way they don’t have to call them a tax increase you just have to pay more taxes. The libs just love that. I’ll bet Geithner likes it.
