How To Experience New York City Like A Local

How To Experience New York City Like A Local

Visiting New York City for the first time can be an overwhelming experience, with so many streets and a wealth of options meaning it’s easy to miss the best offers and opportunities unless you know where to look. That’s why taking the time to research the city beforehand can pay off greatly, allowing you to tailor-make your perfect trip to the Big Apple.

By consulting with friends who live in New York or have visited the city, you can take ideas on board about the best restaurants and entertainments. Buying a non-tourist guidebook or downloading an application for your mobile phone can also help you track down bargains at farmer’s markets and other stores, to help your money go further during your visit, as well as making sure you’re clued up on all aspects of travel, such as getting conveniently to and from your airport and using the subway.

Seeing the sights of New York doesn’t have to mean waiting in long queues or paying exorbitant ticket prices, as many of the city’s top attractions are completely free. To immerse yourself in the city’s culture and see the world passing by, you can’t go wrong with a trip to Union Square Park, with its wide open spaces being the perfect place to clear your head from the information overload in more urban areas like Times Square.

Being selective on your New York City break doesn’t mean missing out on top experiences, of course, and even though well-known attractions like the Empire State Building and the Statue of Liberty can be busy, they are certainly worth experiencing to see spectacular views of the city – especially if this is your first visit.

New York City is also home to some of the world’s foremost museums and art galleries, and with entry being paid by suggested donations, a trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art won’t even have to cost you very much. This is worth bearing in mind when choosing which museums to avoid, as some, such as the Museum of Modern Art, can charge around for entry. It’s up to the individual art lover to judge whether the entry fee is worth it, when there are other options available.

Saving money on a trip to New York City means being savvy; not settling for second best. By doing your research and seeking out personal recommendations, you can find the best deals on New York City hotels, restaurants, stores and attractions.

Leonid meteor shower last 2 nights. On a metaphysical level, anyone experience any strange events or dreams?

I use earth magic, (stones, animal signs, dreams, meditation, plant medicine, intuitive divination, etc.) and have had many strange occurrence’s in my life the past month. It all led up to very mystical dreams last night after the crazy meteor flash over Park City, Utah where I returned to from a mad exodus from Lake Tahoe, CA two nights previous. Let’s compare notes…
My dreams had a darker tone to them as well. I was in a commune type situation and felt I had to escape. It was like a party but everyone seemed sinister. Upon leaving through a huge gate, a weird hippie guy through the end of a black trident into the air when there was a great burst of light. It fell to the ground and pierced the ground right at my feet! I was not afraid but felt I was in danger. The people in the commune seemed to be shamans but had a malicious vibe to them. Two men tried to hand me cash through the gate. I took one’s offer but not the other. He in turn gave me a wick that was soaked in fuel. I then dreamed I was watching video footage of myself from the future. Check out local footage of the bright flash in the sky over Utah last night. I also saw an incredible orange meteor over Nevada the night before. I can’t help but think the energy of the astronomical occurrences affect our energies too…
