Is it the popular Sundance Film Festival or the Seattle Film Festival which claims to be as the most attended film festival in the US? What is the US equivalent to the Cannes, Berlin, Venice and Toronto film festivals?

If there is a good plot, good acting, and good props, what is the chance that a movie filmed entirely on a Sony Camcorder, a mic and a tripod with fireworks, foreign location (japan) and good editng will make the Sundance film festival?
I know the chances are slim. But, if there are any movies in the past that have made sundance recorded on Camcorder, please list them.
