If you’re looking to spend some time playing in the snow in Park City, Utah, then you’ll love the following tips. You can find a great deal on a Utah lodge and spend your days enjoying the snow and your nights enjoying the glowing ambiance. There are plenty of Stillwater hotels in the area that offer you some great deals and great amenities.
The snow at Park City is known around the world as being some of the best for skiing in the United States. Many international skiers come to this area of Utah to spend some time on the slopes. Everyone needs accommodations and sometimes, you may want a Utah lodge that isn’t as expensive as some resorts. If you’re looking for ways to save on your trip, consider the following:
Almost all of the Stillwater hotels have their own website and you will find a great many deals when you visit these sites. Some of them only offer these specials online their website, so it’s worth taking a few minutes to check it out. You should also sign up for any email notifications the Utah lodge may offer. Some only offer their really great deals to those who are on their email lists. If the Utah lodge doesn’t have a website, then call it directly. You may be able to negotiate a better rate than what you find on the travel sites.
Another thing to consider about Stillwater hotels is that many may only offer lodging, while others may provide some great skiing. Sometimes, you can find a buy-one-get-one free lift ticket special to another resort that offers skiing or you may find that it’s much cheaper to stay where you can ski. It all depends on the Utah lodge that you want to visit. Another important tip for saving money is to check out how much it will cost you to rent equipment once you arrive. This is especially true if you will be flying in. Almost all of the airlines are now charging outrageous fees for checked baggage. There isn’t an airline anywhere that will let you carry on your skis! You may find that’s it’s cheaper to rent your equipment than pay those baggage fees on each leg of your trip.
Many of the Stillwater hotels will offer you coupons for restaurants in the area, although this is more common for those that don’t have a restaurant on the premises. These coupons and deals can save you money, so it’s worth your time to check out the prices before you decide it’s where you want to eat.
In closing, the above tips will help you save money on your next Utah ski vacation. From a quaint Utah lodge to one of the luxurious Stillwater hotels, there is something for everyone and every budget here. You’ll love the snow and ski conditions, the accommodations, and the atmosphere in this little part of the world.

Myrtle Beach Golf Vacations Are Great For The Whole Family
Myrtle Beach Golf Vacations Are Great For The Whole Family
If you’ve been dying to take a Myrtle Beach golf vacation, but the rest of the family isn’t hip on a golf trip, play up the other options and you might just get your dream getaway. The community has more appeal than just golf, so don’t worry, while you’re on the course, your family can take in a number of different sites and still have plenty to do at the end of the day when you retire your clubs.
This South Carolina resort destination is known for two major things – golf and beaches. In between the two are literally hundreds of different options for sightseeing, shopping, dining and more.
Located on the South Carolina coast, this historic city has some major sites ranging from its beaches, golf courses and shopping districts to historic sites and amusement parks. Although you may want to go for the golf, your family will not be left out of the fun if Myrtle Beach is the destination.
Here are some of the major attractions to play up to help make that dream golf trip a reality:
* The area around Myrtle Beach is known for its live entertainment. The community is home to the Carolina Opry, the Alabama Theatre, The House of Blues and more. There’s also a Medieval Times dinner theater, the Palace Theatre and more.
* Amusement parks and other adventuresome destinations also call the Myrtle Beach area home. In the general area, visitors will find such attractions as the Children’s Museum of South Carolina, Broadway at the Beach, Ghosts and Legends, Family Kingdom Amusement Park and Ocean Front Water Park, Myrtle Waves Water Park and a number of raceways to name just a few options.
* Outdoors fun. In addition to golfing, the Myrtle Beach area boasts more than 60 miles of beaches. The waters in and around the area are perfect for not only swimming, but also boating, fishing, surfing, kayaking, parasailing and more. If the beaches don’t appeal, there’s the Intracoastal Waterway to explore, plus rivers, creeks, marshes and more.
* When it comes to dining, Myrtle Beach is a hungry person’s dream destination. With more than 1,600 restaurants, just about every cuisine on the planet is available. From fresh catches to steaks, ethnic foods and more, Myrtle Beach has no shortage of options.
* Shopping is also a popular pastime in this town. The city is home to hundreds of boardwalk specialty shops, traditional malls and more.
* Nightlife. The Myrtle Beach area is home to dozens and dozens of clubs and more to help keep the nightlife hopping.
* Museums/Arts/More. If something indoors doesn’t appeal, the area is also home to a number of museums, galleries and more “artsy” destinations. Plus, there are tons of historic sites in and around the area to explore.
If a golf getaway tops your list of things to do but doesn’t top your family’s, Myrtle Beach is a great suggestion. Offering something for just about anyone, this South Carolina resort is famous for golf and a whole lot more.

Five Great Places to Water Ski in the U.S.
Five Great Places to Water Ski in the U.S.
Most of us associate water skiing with summertime fun – warm sunshine, beaches and picnics – so it may come as a surprise that water skiing was born in Minnesota in 1922 when Ralph Samuelson used two boards and a clothesline to ski across Lake Pepin. Samuelson has been credited by the American Water Ski Association as the first water ski racer, and the first to jump a ramp and slalom ski, as well as the first to hold a water ski show, too.
Like Samuelson, avid enthusiasts will water ski nearly any time, any where there is an opportunity, even when winter temperatures and chilly water are a deterrent for most people. Fortunately, no matter what city and state you call home, there’s probably a local lake or other body of water where you can get in some ski time, perhaps even practice your gainers and other tricks.
Of course, skiing at the same location all the time can become routine. Add a little excitement to your water time this year by planning a water skiing vacation. Whether you are a novice or expert, you can have some added fun by water skiing at one of these five great locations:
Top U.S. water skiing destinations
1) San Diego, Calif. – With a climate that provides ideal conditions year-round and an average of 264 days of sunshine each year, San Diego is a water skier’s dream. It’s also the home of Mission Bay Park, the largest manmade aquatic park in the U.S. Located just 10 minutes from downtown, Mission Bay offers hardcore skiers the opportunity to take an early morning jaunt around the bay, and still make it to the office on time. In addition, there’s a variety of water ski classes for everyone from the novice to the experienced. For a little more excitement and a change of pace, skiers can cruise around the freight and military ships in San Diego Bay. A variety of local lakes are perfect for those that prefer freshwater water skiing. Plan your trip to San Diego the weekend of Oct. 9,, 2009, and you’ll be able to watch the 5th U.S. Open Water Ski Racing National Championships, too.
2) Austin, Texas – As the Live Music Capital of America, Austin’s earned a reputation as a vibrant city that exemplifies a young, active outdoor lifestyle. For water skiers, the long summers and short winters provide almost year-round opportunity to hit the water. In addition to Lake Austin and Lake Travis, Austin offers several world-class facilities built specifically for water skiers:
- Austin Aquaplex – The Aquaplex is known for “easy” water with a medium-to-high viscosity – great for slalom and jump-ski enthusiasts.
- Guadalupe Ski Plex – Built to accommodate competitive water skiing, Guadalupe is home to three lakes, two slalom courses and a ski jump, as well plenty of boat docks and storage areas.
- Utopia River Ranch – For professional lessons, trek to Utopia River Ranch, a private water ski training facility located near Staples, just outside of Austin.
3) West Palm Beach, Fla. – South Florida, from Key West and Miami to West Palm and Orlando, is a hub of activity for water sports lovers of all kinds. With few days under 70 degrees, South Florida’s Palm Beach County offers ski enthusiasts nearly year-round opportunity, as well as two major water ski attractions and several exciting competitions.
- Okeeheelee Park – The site of choice for beginners and professionals, the facility is a nationally recognized competitive water ski park with five courses that can accommodate everything from traditional to barefoot and kneeboard skiing. If you love to bask in the moonlight, you can take advantage of night skiing on a lit course, too. At under 0, annual permits are more than affordable, too.
- Palm Beach Training Center – Ask Chet Raley, one of the world’s top ski coaches and a national champion, for world-class water ski instruction at Palm Beach Training Center, a private facility located in Boca Raton. Raley offers video coaching for under 0, as well as more expensive clinics for professional skiers.
In addition, South Florida hosts the following water skiing events:
- 3rd IWSF Pan Am Region Wakeboard Championships (Miami)
- Board Up Miami (Miami)
- 4th Big Dawg Slalom Series Championship (West Palm Beach)
- 67th GOODE Water Ski National Championships (West Palm Beach)
4) Pine Mountain, Ga. – Located just outside of Atlanta in Pine Mountain, lays Robin Lake Beach, home of the world’s longest manmade white sand beach. Ranked among Fine Living’s top 10 most unique beaches in the world in 2007, Robin Lake Beach is part of Callaway Gardens resort. Callaway Gardens also hosts the Masters Water Ski and Wakeboard Tournament®, which awards more than 0,000 in winnings each Memorial Day weekend. A great destination for the entire family, the stunning vacation resort offers something for everyone, from water skiing to golf, relaxing spa visits and more.
5) Seattle, Wash. – Although you may not think of the rainy Emerald City as a water skiing hub, it’s the testing ground of choice for popular water ski manufacturers like Herb O’Brien, Pat Connelly, Jeff Jobe and Denny Kidder. With picturesque Mount Ranier as a backdrop, Lake Washington and Lake Sammamish provide the perfect glass.
Of course, these aren’t the only great places to water ski. Lake Havasu City, Ariz., Charlotte, N.C., Sacramento, Calif., Grand Rapids, Mich., and Madison, Wis. are other destinations beloved by ski enthusiasts.
No matter where in the U.S. you are located, there’s a great place to water ski near you. However before you take your boat on a trip or hit the water, be sure it’s protected. Great Basin National Park, Nevada
Great Basin National Park, Nevada
What is it like to stand in the shadows of or with your hand on the oldest living non- clonal organisms ever known? Awe inspiring! Incredible experience! It definitely is something near impossible to put into words. Great Basin National Forest is one home to these living ancient wonders. Its remoteness assures a private connection.
If you are traveling east or west via U.S. 6 and 50, take Nevada State Highway 487 to Baker, Nevada. It will be a quick 5 miles and then another 5 miles on Highway 488 to the park.
From southern Utah travel north on Highway 21 and when you cross the Utah-Nevada border 21 becomes 487. Turn west on Highway 488 in Baker for the last 5 miles to the park.
From southern Nevada travel north on Highway 93 to the junction of U.S. Highway 6 and 50 and drive east to Nevada State Highway 487 and then it is 5 miles to Baker and another 5 miles to the park via Highway 488.
Just for reference, Ely, Nevada, is 68 miles distant, Delta Utah, is 106 miles, and Cedar City, Utah, is 142 miles. This area is off the beaten path! You won’t have cell phone service or the Internet. Fill up the gas tank before you venture into this remote area.
So again, tell me, why are we are going to Great Basin National Park? Oh, that’s right – the bristlecone pine. Get directions at the Park Visitors Center to the Bristlecone Pine Trail. Take your hiking shoes, appropriate clothing depending upon the season, water and a lunch. It’s only 2.8 miles round trip on a moderate, well-marked trail. If you have more time and energy, continue up the trail to see Nevada’s only glacier at the foot of Mt. Wheeler (13,063 ft. elevation), Nevada’s second highest peak.
The Lehman cave tours, either 60 minutes or 90 minutes, are well worth the fee of and respectively for adults and and respectively for youth 5-15 years of age. Infants and toddles are free but are not permitted on the 90 minute tour.
Limited camping is available during the summer and holidays, so make arrangements ahead of time.

This museum looks into into western history for example Old Guns of the West or Modern Western Art.

6. Visit anAlpine Lake this coming summer– The mountains of the intermountain west are full of glacial blue alpine lakes. Most of them are well known but a number of the most most interesting are off the main tourist track and often require a long hike to arrive at. One of our top choices is Seneca Lake in the Wind River Mountains. This mountain lake is circled by steep ledges and beautifully carved mountains that were formed by glaciers. The Wind River mountains are well known for fishing and backpacking opportunities. Another great destination in the Wind River Mountains is Lonsome lake located near the Cirque of the Towers in the southern part of the Wind River Mountains.
As you can see, there are a wide variety of things that you should try to do in the mountain west, instead of the old car tour. Any of the above iteneraies will not only be exciting and fun but will provide you with many great pictures for years to come.
The Great Park City Real Estate of Red Ledges
The Great Park City Real Estate of Red Ledges
It’s a common enough feeling around Park City, Utah. Poised at a precipice, your heart’s a drumbeat as you contemplate the steeply twisting corridor falling away beneath your feet. You take a deep, steadying breath, and prepare to negotiate the plunging terrain safely.
But it isn’t winter, it’s summertime. You’re wearing a collared shirt and Bermuda shorts, not goggles and Gore-Tex. You were transported by golf cart, not chairlift. You’re at the first tee of one of the nation’s most breathtaking new golf experiences – Red Ledges, in Heber, Utah.
This is the 200th U.S. course designed by the preeminent Jack Nicklaus. And this milestone course, with its expansive views, up-and-down sensibility, gorgeous sandstone outcroppings and grip-and-throat-tightening uphill approach shots, continues the decade-long trend of Park City’s steady metamorphosis into a high-end golf destination.
Owing to its longtime position as one of the world’s great ski towns, a reputation further cemented by its star turn in the 2002 Winter Olympic Games of Salt Lake City, Park City will always be more closely associated with snowflakes than fairways. But in recent years, golf gear has assumed greater importance in area toy-boxes, taking its rightful place next to the skis, snowboards, mountain bikes and hiking boots. Red Ledges is just the latest reason as to why.
Nicklaus has been collecting awards about as steadily as he collected his 18 major championships, and among others, was named for the fifth time by the editors of Golf Inc. Magazine as “The Most Powerful Person in Golf.” Apparently, when it came time for the owners-developers of Red Ledges to pick an architect, they espoused the philosophy, “It takes one to know one.”
Anthony Burns is the former CEO of Ryder Systems, they of the ubiquitous yellow trucks. His partner at Red Ledges is Nolan Archibald, who still occupies a similar throne at Black & Decker. Besides heading multi-billion-dollar conglomerates, both men have deep Utah roots.
“I am amazed that in just two years since the ground-breaking, Red Ledges will open what we believe will be the finest course in the West,” said Tony Burns, whose master plan eventually will include 1,200 homes on 2,000 acres, tennis and equestrian facilities, and spa. “We are thankful to Jack Nicklaus, who has helped make our long-held vision come to life.”
The architect himself is also pleased with the end result, and his ability to assimilate some significant elevation changes into a seamless whole. “Since the topography of this area is so stunning and diverse, we were challenged to stay true to the Red Ledges vision by planning each hole around its natural surroundings,” said golf’s “Golden Bear.”
“We were able to nestle some holes around the famous sandstone ledges and situate other holes in juniper groves. I am delighted with how the course has turned out.”
Equally delighted must be the droves of discriminating golf-lovers who are continuing to discover greater the Park City real estate as the perfect vacation-home destination. As a Scotsman might say, those with the requisite dollars and desire are “spoiled for choice.” Each of the half-dozen-or-so high-desert venues that have sprung to life in the last decade offers meticulous course conditioning, upscale amenities and 20-mile mountain vistas. Just as importantly, they are all a short drive from a dynamic, culturally relevant, culinary-rich town which in summer is perpetually bathed in sunshine, with 80-degree temperatures and little humidity to speak of.
