Nairobi, Kenya’s capital – fondly referred to as the city in the sun – offers a wide range of accommodation. Many visitors on their Kenya safaris as well as Tanzania safaris find themselves starting and ending their trips in Nairobi.
Over the past couple of years, quite a number of hotels have come up in Nairobi and some of these new additions include:
PrideInn Hotel – this hotel is located in the Westlands area of Nairobi offering a mid range alternative. In room facilities include electronic card locking system, personalised mood air conditioning, satellite connected 26″ flat TV, Electronic swipe card safe, mood lighting, direct dial telephone system, Finest linen, 24 hour security services with CCTV. Wireless and cable high speed internet, tea/coffee making facilities, full Business man Kit to include: Shaving and Dental Kit, Non woven slippers, Shampoos,shower gel, dress up Kit, and Shower, Fruit basket etc are also availed. Accommodation rates start from approximately USD 56 per adult on bed and breakfast meal plan
Hennessis Hotel – Located in the Parklands / Ngara area of Nairobi, Henessis is a pocket friendly hotel offering a clean budget alternative. In room facilities include instant hot showers, slim fit Televisions with multi channel DSTV connection, and telephones. A restaurant and bar is also available and accommodation rates start from USD 35 per adult, on bed and breakfast meal plan.
Ole Sereni – Ole Sereni Hotel is located just off the Mombasa Road, overlooking the famous Nairobi National Park. This hotel can be classified as an airport hotel given its close proximity to Jomo Kenyatta International airport , yet it beautifully combines all the best features of a modern City Hotel and a traditional Wildlife Lodge, giving you the safari feeling right in the heart of Nairobi. In room facilities consist of are equipped with private bath/ shower, air conditioning, safe, mini bar, tea/coffee making facilities, hairdryer, satellite TV, internet and direct dial telephone. Also provided in all rooms are bathrobes and bedroom slippers. There are plenty of dining option in this hotel, which overlook the watering hole. Other facilities include a swimming pool, wifi hotspots, baby sitting, room and laundry service among others. Rates start from approximately USD 123 per adult on bed and breakfast.
Crowne Plaza Hotel – A member of the Intercontinental group, Crowne Plaza Hotel is located in the upper hill area of Nairobi and offers plenty of modern facilities. In room feature include High speed wireless internet, interactive and flat screen TVs, in-room safes, mini bars, iron and ironing boards, hairdryers, tea and coffee facilities. Accommodation starts from USD 147 per person on bead and breakfast meal plan.
Sankara Nairobi – This hotel which has recently opened its doors is located in Westlands Nairobi, right next door to the jacaranda Hotel and opposite the Sarit Centre. Rooms are categorised into superior and deluxe rooms ,junior and Executive Suites. Room feature consists of marble bathrooms with walk-in rain showers and separate baths,LCD flat screen TV, DVD player and surround sound, complimentary high speed internet access,Plug and play panel (allows for seamless connection of audiovisual and technological devices to the TV) as well as Ergonomically designed desk and chair. The hotel offers plenty of dining options while other facilities include a club lounge, gym, spa, rooftop bar and roof top swimming pool. Accommodation rates start from approximately USD 107 per person on bed and breakfast meal plan.
Nairobi Tented Camp – This camp nestles deep within a riverine forest in the heart of Nairobi National Park and is the first accommodation allowed in the Nairobi National Park. It is a small intimate camp and accommodation rates include game activities. If you are looking to stay at this camp, you do have to pay daily park fees and camping fees. Accommodation rates are available on half board and full board meal plans, starting from approximately USD 290 per person. This covers transfers, game activities, park fees,meals on your choice of meal plan as well as alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks.
There are many more Nairobi hotels than covered here and visitors to Nairobi need not worry as there is truly something for everyone.
