Deer Valley Ski Resort : Vacation Destination
With the holidays approaching quickly and the New Year right around the corner many people are deciding that a vacation is necessary, and not many vacation are more enjoyable than a ski vacation to Deer Valley, Utah. Usually when people start thinking about what it takes to put together a stellar ski vacation package for themselves and their family and friends the first consideration is where to go. When I ask most people where they think of when they think skiing and snowboarding I typically get a response for Colorado resorts and sometimes B.C. Now there are lots of reasons why Colorado is indeed a fantastic place to ski and ride but believe me when I say Deer Valley Utah has everything Colorado does and maybe more.
First, The Location: Deer Valley opened as a fully operational ski resort in 1981. Since its opening in the 80’s Deer Valley has garnished a fantastic reputation as a world class destination for skiing. The resort places great pride on its customer service and quality of experience for patrons. Because of this awesome commitment to care Deer Valley was named the number 1 ski resort in North America by SKI Magazine in 2008, 2009, and yes 2010. Wow. That’s pretty impressive considering the competition.
Second, The Town: Deer Valley Utah is actually located on an old mining town that is part of Park City. Its relatively close distance to Salt Lake City (36 miles) makes it a wonderfully short ride from the Salt Lake City International Airport. One of my favorite aspects of the resort is that it’s so close to the historic main street, only about a mile walk. So after a long day skiing, a walk through the beautiful old town district is close as can be.
Third, The Mountain: At a base elevation of 6,570ft Deer Valley commands 100 runs that cover nearly 2,026 acres. There is terrain park for the snowboarders in your group and plenty of Gondola’s (21 in total). The lift system is quite impressive with a skier capacity of 46,500/hr.
To wrap things up I just want to repeat when your considering your ski vacation package this year, take Deer Valley into your calculations.

The Canyons Ski Resort: Vacation
Skiing is an enjoyable way to spend any vacation. Itâs a great way to bond with your children while teaching them or to reconnect with a special someone. With the 2009-2010 season taking off now is a great time to start planning your ski vacation package. One place to consider as you destination is The Canyons Utah. Along with some basics about what youâll need to start planning your trip weâll cover the mountain and the resort facilities.
1)Â Â Â The very first thing to consider is how much money you would like to spend, or how little. Decide how many people youâll be traveling with, are you taking the kids? College friends? Or just your special partner. If you live out of state or over seas airfare will be a necessity, planning your trip as a complete vacation package is your best option. Flying into Salt Lake City International Airport you will have a choice to rent a vehicle or take public transportation to your lodging. Even though The Canyons is very close to the airport, only about 40 miles I highly recommend having access to a car. Remember when making you car rental arrangement to get a vehicle the can fit all your companions and gear especially if you own your own skies. Depending on the location of the lodge you choose, if your renting skies make sure you look at a map to insure your not going extra miles to pick up your skies and snowboards. Another consideration with your lodge is ski in ski out. Ski in ski out is ideal, you get to walk out your door and pretty much onto the lifts. You will pay more for this convenience but it can save you on gas, parking, and carrying skies and snowboarders around.
2)Â Â Â The Canyons is one of three world-class resorts located in Park City Utah. Park City is home to the Internationally renowned Sundance Film Festival. There are plenty of outlet stores for all your shopping needs and the old historic main road has a wonderful feel and is great for a dusk walk with your sweetheart. The nightlife is lively and leaves not much to be desired. At a base elevation of 8,800ft and a summit elevation of 9,990ft The Canyons Boasts a total of 8 mountain peaks, 21 ski lifts and 3,700 acres of skiable terrain. The mountain has runs for every level of experience being the largest single ski and snowboard resort in Utah and breaks down to 46% for experts and 54% for beginners to intermediate. Their instructors are knowledgeable and friendly if youâre looking to learn snowboarding or skiing.
No matter where you decide to go having a good time and relaxing is what a ski vacation is all about in the end. With the little pre-planning and a mind to have fun you cant go wrong with The Canyons!

Exotic Bangkok Golf Vacation Mini Guide
Exotic Bangkok Golf Vacation Mini Guide
Thinking of places to enjoy a golfing vacation adventure and go somewhere exotic
Consider Thailand as a Golf Vacation destination and you will never forget your experience and the adventure.
In this article I will be talking to you about Bangkok Golf Vacations in particular, although there are hundreds of golf courses throughout Thailand.
First a little about Thailand from Wikipedia. Thailand is home to several distinct geographic regions, partly corresponding to the provincial groups.
The north of the country is mountainous, with the highest point being Doi Inthanon at 2,576 meters (8,451ft.).
The northeast consists of the Khorat Plateau, bordered to the east by the Mekong river. The centre of the country is dominated by the predominantly flat Chao Phraya River valley, which runs into the Gulf of Thailand.
The south consists of the narrow Kra Isthmus that widens into the Malay Peninsula.
The local climate is tropical and characterized by monsoons. There is a rainy, warm, and cloudy southwest monsoon from mid-May to September, as well as a dry, cool northeast monsoon from November to mid-March.
The southern isthmus is always hot and humid. Major cities beside the capital Bangkok include Nakhon Ratchasima, Udon Thani, Nakhon Sawan, Chiang Mai, Surat Thani, Phuket, and Hat Yai, in Songhla Province.
Bangkok, known in Thai as Krung Thep, is the capital and largest city of Thailand, with an official census population of over 10 million. Bangkok is located on the east bank of the Chao Phraya River, near the Gulf of Thailand.
Its also in the World Book of Records for the longest named city, Krung Thep is abbreviated.
Bangkok is one of the fastest growing, most economically dynamic cities in Southeast Asia. It is emerging as a regional center to rival Singapore and Hong Kong.
The World Meteorological Organization has dubbed Bangkok the world’s hottest large city. Moreover, it is one of the world’s most popular tourist destinations. Bangkok is also known for relatively low retail prices.
Bangkok is the place to visit for breathtakingly beautiful temples, magnificent palaces, Thai dancers, Thai kickboxing, museums, and island hopping, with
6 international airports , destinations all within one hour or so flights within Thailand. You will also find great bargains while shopping country wide.
Thailand’s new airport is a work of art which stands alone and sets a new international standard for travelers, with all the latest hi-tech equipment , and visitor friendly features no where else to be found, just now opening in July through September.
So, besides the enjoyment of your golfing vacation, you will also be able to enjoy the visit to Bangkok, Thailand in many other ways, not the least of, which is the fantastic Bangkok nightlife and world-class hotels at rates you won’t believe.
All in all, a golf vacation to Thailand is more than just an average golfing vacation, it’s an adventure to remember.
Lets talk about some of the particular Golf Clubs and Golf Courses in Bangkok.
Windmill Park Golf & Country Club: Designed by Nick Faldo, this 18-Hole, Par 72, golf course is very challenging from the back tees. It features a lot of water for most of the entire course and the Par 5 holes are all doglegs. The last hole is probably the biggest challenge where you have to hit onto an island where the clubhouse is also located.
Bangpoo Country Club: This 18 hole course was designed by Arnold Palmer and is one of the most popular golf vacation destinations. It is located about 60 miles southeast of Bangkok. You will not contend with as much water as you will on the Windmill course but wind will be a factor in your golf game at Bangpoo. Wide Fairways make the course a little easier for the average golfer.
Vintage Golf Clubs: There is a lot more here than just golf. It features a glamorous clubhouse with tennis courts, a swimming pool, and even a fitness center. This 18 hole, Par 72 golf course was designed by Arthur Hills and is a rather flat course. However the greens, fairways, and water hazards are well placed. The Par 5 holes will give any golfer the challenge they are looking for and the 18th hole is especially challenging with a narrow green sporting water on two sides.
Bangpakong Riverside Country Club: Built by the Bangpakong River, this 18 hole course presents unique challenges for golfers at any skill level. The river intertwines through the golf course and into some of the greens themselves.
It sports thick rough areas even though the fairways are wide. Golfers will also have to contend with strong winds in addition to the obvious water hazards.
Thana City Golf & Country Club: This Golf Club is located along the Bangna-Trad Highway. A beautiful course designed by Greg Norman gives golfers a chance to play holes of varying skill levels.
There are Par 4, 300 yard holes up to Par 4, 440 yard holes. Very fast greens make this golf course a real challenge.
Dynasty Golf & Country Club: Designed by Dennis Griffiths, Dynasty is an 18-hole golf course about an hour-and-a-half drive from Bangkok. The greens are well placed and the course is fairly flat.
There are creeks that provide good water hazards and the trees and flowers that surround this beautiful golf course are something to be admired.
Subhapruek Golf Club: (Formerly Bangna Country Club). The name, Subhapruek, was given to the golf course by Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn in 1995 and means Beautiful Plants.
This golf course is one of the most beautiful courses in Thailand. Every single one of the 18 holes was designed by Pete Dye as a signature hole. The course presents physical and mental challenges that rival the best golf courses in the world.
Natural Park Ramindra Golf Course: (Formerly Winsan Golf Club until taken over by the Natural Group in 1992) Designed by Jack Niclaus, this 18-hole golf course features holes with sandy wastes, water hazards, and bunkers.
Like any golf course designed by Jack Niclaus, it presents challenges golfers at all skill levels can enjoy. It is located near Safari World, about and hour drive from Bangkok.
These are only a few of the golf courses in and around Bangkok, Thailand. You will enjoy exploring to find other courses such as those I will recommend below. A trip to Thailand for a golf vacation is one you will never forget.
Other recommended Golf courses you can search for online before booking your Bangkok, Thailand golf vacation.
Green Valley Golf Club, Rose Garden Golf Club, Kiarti Thanee Country Club, Royal Gems Golf & Sports Club, Krisda City Golf Club, President Golf & Country Club, Krung Kavee Golf Club, Pinehurst Golf & Country Club, Lakewood Golf & Country Club, Panya Indra Golf Club, Lum Luk Ka Golf Club, and Navatanee Golf Club.
Note from the author:
Although there are many excellent choices, my personal favorite is Pinehurst Golf & Country Club, minutes from Don Mueng International Airport, great accommodations in a country setting , excellent service with a smile, and moderately priced to fit within your budget.
Just watch out for the water traps. I’ve donated 100’s of golf balls over the years.

Your Vision of a Perfect Vacation Rental?
Your Vision of a Perfect Vacation Rental?
Are you looking for a home away from home, somewhere you can gather your friends and family to reconnect? Consider a vacation rental.
Closeness in a family comes from acceptance. No family or friends are perfect and one of the best ways to really enjoy each other, or decide to never see each other again
…is to stay at a vacation rental together. Not only is it more affordable to share beds, burnt chicken and shampoo, but you get to share comradery.
Remember when you were a kid and you had to share the bottom bunk…not anymore. You choose the vacation rental, you choose the bed…king size if you like with linens made from 100% downy soft cotton sheets. If you’re feeling generous king beds all around, or perhaps you are on a budget, king for you, and bunks for whomever made you sleep on the bottom bunk.
There are so many vacation rental directories it can make your head spin, like Linda Blair in the Exorcist. The best way to research a vacation rental is to narrow your search. Try narrowing down the most important aspects of your vacation, for example, “Park City, UT , Old Town, sleeps 8, skiing, hot tub, wireless internet, walk to lifts,” using Google “I’m feeling lucky” search, this page came up directly, http://lodging4vacations.com/park-city-old-town/
Gorgeous! There are large photos, the home appeared clean and beautifully furnished. These homeowners care about their property and will be more inclined to care about me? Start with great expectations, half the fun of going on vacation can be exploring the different possibilities.
Is being pet friendly important? Affordable? Ski in ski out? Have fun with your search! But remember a few key things to keep your search from becoming endless. Start with the maximum amount of people. How many in your group? Queen beds can sleep 2, but if that extra last minute person can’t make it, one person is more comfy. What location? What would you like to do while visiting the area? Ski? Surf? Museums? Within the first few minutes of searching for your accommodations, trust your intuition. Do you have a good feeling about this place? Does it seem legitimate? Did this person have to pay advertising costs or was it a free listing? Is there a phone number?
Watch out for phony advertising. Recently, A phony vacation rental advertiser was caught on Craig’s List. The phony advertiser had copied images and advertised the place as his own. When called by the prospective renters, the imposter of the vacation rental could not clearly give directions or was unable to repeat the correct address. Call the owner, if it is a scam they may not be able to clearly give directions, or they may be vague. Double check with map quest or another reputable map source to make sure the rental is located where the owner has said it is supposed to be located.
Private vacation rentals are clearly the way to go for more than two people on vacation. Once you find a reliable source, for many it’s like owning a second vacation home without the mortgage and upkeep. Why not spilt the cost and share the memories?

Also, not Europe, Caribbean, or Mexico. Maybe in America—What about Yellowstone NP or Arizona/Grand Canyon? Any ideas?

What’s a fun place to vacation in Utah that’s not camping or in Salt Lake?
I need to plan my honeymoon, but we can’t really afford to go that far. We live in Salt Lake, so that’s out, and camping seems … ill-suited for honeymooning. Also to consider: we hate Park City and also don’t want to be in a hotel where people are camping. That’s tacky. What’s left? Idaho? Southeastern Oregon? Elko?
